Endowment of Rudolph A. Marcus Center for Theoretical Chemistry
A $30 million lead gift, from former Caltech postdoctoral scholars Drs. Jack Zhang and Mary Luo, endows the center in honor of a lifelong mentor and friend. Zhang and Luo chose to focus their giving on people, empowering the Division to attract and support the most talented and driven faculty, postdocs, and students. This gift will ensure the division's continued preeminence by enhancing research and teaching.
CCE Staff Picnic
On August 29, 2024 the division held a Staff Summer Luncheon in Schlinger Patio. Staff beat the heat with cool refreshments and delicious BBQ!
On September 25, 2024, newly admitted undergraduate students cooled down with shaved ice while talking with current students, faculty and staff. Undergraduates got to learn more about the division, spin for swag and catch up with their soon-to-be classmates.

CCE Orientation 2024
CCE Orientation was held from September 23 - 27, 2024. The event began with lunch in the breezeway of the newly constructed Resnick Sustainability Center. Throughout the week, incoming graduate students were introduced to courses and rotations, learned about campus resources and participated in fire safety training. The week concluded with a Faculty Summer Seminar Series.
The John H. Seinfeld One Hundred PhDs Symposium
On September 27, 2024 a two-day event kicked off the The John H. Seinfeld One Hundred PhDs Symposium.
This symposium, coordinated by CCE, EAS, GPS and the Linde Center, celebrated the remarkable and transformative impact of the community of scholars John has mentored. Since joining the Caltech faculty in 1967, John has advised more than 100 PhD students. Provost Dave Tirrell welcomed a slate of speakers, most of whom were Seinfeld Lab alumni spanning undergraduate, graduate and postdoc backgrounds.
To commemorate this milestone, ACS ES&T Air will publish a special issue in honor of the significant contributions of John Seinfeld to the field of atmospheric science.

Division T-Shirt Design Contest
