Faces of CCE

Isaac Fianu
Isaac joined the CCE faculty in November 2024 as Assistant Professor of Biochemistry. The Fianu Lab hopes to provide a deeper understanding of the spatiotemporal control of gene activity and elucidate fundamental mechanisms of systems coordination between transcription, DNA replication and repair. This knowledge could potentially lead to new therapeutic approaches with broad applications.

Miranda Kok
Miranda joined CCE in October 2024 as a Lab Manager in the Reisman Group. She grew up in the Netherlands and obtained her bachelor’s and master’s degrees in pharmaceutical sciences from Utrecht University. She continued at Utrecht University with a Ph.D. in analytical chemistry developing methodologies for the profiling of anionic metabolites. Afterwards, she was a post-doctoral researcher at the University of Liège (Belgium) before moving to the United States.
At the NASA Jet Propulsion Laboratory, Miranda developed multiple analytical methods for the analysis of inorganics and organic compounds relevant for potential future life detection missions. In her free time, Miranda enjoys archery, running and playing board games.

Sandeep Sharma
Sandeep joined CCE early this year as Professor of Chemistry. He earned his bachelor's degree in Chemical Engineering from Indian Institute of Technology, Mumbai and a Ph. D. from Massachusetts Institute of Technology (2009). His postdoctoral work was done in the groups of Garnet Chan (then at Princeton University) and Ali Alavi (at the Max Planck Institute in Stuttgart) before starting his independent career at University of Colorado, Boulder in 2016. His group's research efforts are directed towards developing algorithms that solve the problem of electronic structure theory. He loves to spend time with his family which include his wife and two children. In his free time he enjoys playing racket sports of any kind, tennis, squash, table-tennis, badminton.
